While sitting in my vacation home in Maine, I learned from Brian Potter's article on vacation homes that Maine is the state where the largest share of homes are seasonal residences — and it's not particularly close. This is a fact about the Maine housing stock, but it reveals a larger truth about the Maine economy: While many places in the United States have significant seasonal economic cycles, Maine's economy experiences the largest systematic seasonal impact.
