This has certainly been the case with the big story of last week—the attempt by the Ukrainian government to undermine the independence of its anti-corruption agencies. When it was a seen as a disaster (which it was) it became a big story and was covered widely (I talked about it in the update last weekend).

Then the Ukrainians as a people put such pressure on their government that Zelensky walked back the move and now those agencies are doing exactly what they should be doing (more on that below).
